1. Vendor Snapshot (first pass)
- Who operates this seller, and how do I contact them for documents?
- What exact material / lot am I looking at (copy their words)?
- Is intended-use language consistent, or mixed with human-outcome claims?
- What policy exists when documentation is missing or wrong?
- What still cannot be verified from the public page?
One missing answer is a question. Several missing answers are a pattern. A pattern is not a verdict — it is a reason to slow down.
2. COA minimum fields
- Batch / lot ID matches the listing
- Test date present and recent enough to matter for your decision
- Analyte / identity named
- Method named (e.g. HPLC / MS) — not just “tested”
- Result + units
- Laboratory identity (who produced the report)
A clean-looking chart is not a chain of custody. Purity is not sterility, safety, legality, or efficacy.
3. The stop rule
- No batch link between document and listing
- Lab identity unverifiable
- Claims exceed what the record can prove
- Pressure to act before records arrive
- Contradictory intended-use language
“Not enough information” is a valid result.
